In Venice a cavàna is a typical roofed boathouse, and in the terminology of those people who use a boat or gondola for their work, to go to the cavàna means the end of a working shift. We renovated an old boathouse near Campo Santi Apostoli and opened a restaurant called the Vecia Cavana in it in 2006. We wanted to keep the columns, brick arches and mooring hooks intact to recreate the atmosphere of a lesser-known Venice.
We offer our diners typical traditional Venetian recipes and original Italian dishes that our chefs prepare with creativity and originality.
And we pay special attention to the choice of wines to go with our menus. Our list offers a selection of wines from many regions of Italy, with a particular preference for the ones from Friuli, and the most prestigious vintage bottles.
